A media company with receipts

The myths you repeat. The trivia you flub. The history you got wrong.

Think Again Media Group makes daily newsletters for people who love being right, and can handle finding out they weren't. Stumpers, debunks, and just enough chaos to wake you up before the coffee does.

Three things many people believe, all of them false:

  • Goldfish have a three-second memory.

They remember things for months. You forgot why you walked into the kitchen.

  • Lightning never strikes the same place twice.

The Empire State Building gets hit about 23 times a year. It has made its peace.

  • Napoleon was unusually short.

He was about average for a Frenchman of his day. British cartoonists drew him tiny on purpose.

Proceed with caution

Two formats. Zero mercy.

One asks a question you'd swear you know. The other takes something you've believed for years and quietly ends it.

01

The Stumper

The question you'd bet money on. Please don't bet money on it.

Example

Did Cleopatra live closer in time to the building of the Great Pyramid of Giza, or to the Moon landing?

Rip off the bandage

The Moon landing. The Great Pyramid was finished around 2560 BC, roughly 2,500 years before Cleopatra was born. Apollo 11 landed about 2,000 years after she died. She lived closer to the smartphone than to the pyramid, too.

02

The Debunk

The thing everybody knows. We pulled the receipts.

Example

MythVikings wore horned helmets.

RecordNo Viking Age helmet with horns has ever been found. The horns showed up centuries later, thanks to 19th-century art and the costumes for the first complete staging of Wagner's Ring cycle in 1876. Blame the wardrobe department.

Daily damage

Five quick hits, built for the first few minutes of your day, while your guard is still down.

  • Stumper of the Day

  • Word of the Day

Where a word really came from. Spoiler: not where your English teacher said.

  • Horoscope of the Day

Your sign, roasted daily. The stars have notes, and they are not being nice about it.

  • Astrology of the Day

What the sky is up to today, and the strange old lore behind it.

  • On This Day in History

What really happened on today's date, minus the legend.
